Barnes and Noble sounds good. I do have a problem with the Pizza Hut thing though, not a big fan of the fast food joints and their influence on education. My daughter received many tickets for free pan pizzas for her reading and she knew that we wouldn't be redeeming them. She knows that the pizza isn't the healthiest and that the grease and daddy don't play well together. My kids eat at McDonalds and the like occasionally, it's just not a habit or a crutch. I make a majority of her lunches, don't even get me started on school lunches, but I don't completely deprive them because I believe in moderation not denial. I want my kids to make healthy choices and I do everything in my power to educate them and let them learn from their mistakes. Of course dinner tonight was chocolate chip pancakes, but they were made at home with whole wheat flour.

  2. We can chalk up too much fast food in the lives of our kids to lot of things, but your comment on moderation is right on. We don't need the food police, but we need kids and families to "police" themselves about how much of that garbage they are ingesting. It's a treat.

When we go to a certain restaurant in Holland, my daughter (5) loves that they will always steam her broccoli instead of giving her fries. Her choice. We just hope those will continue.

    Thanks for your comment Jay!

Thanks for posting this on your blog. Before school let out I let all of our teachers know about this and I told all my students. Hopefully I'll have lots of students telling me about the books they read and earned over the summer!
    Thanks - Linda
