Prove 'Em or Lose 'Em iPad Challenge

Fall 2011 5th Grade Challenge:

Prove that the iPads are impacting your learning.

Asking of essential question: We know that these are cool and fun but how do we know we are learning with them?

So, we asked some of Mr. Losik's teacher friends via social media to challenge us with tough questions that would make us think. Here are some of the responses.

"How will you compare learning with an iPad to learning without an iPad?"
"Why would adults not want iPads in the classroom?"
"What can kids do to prove that iPads are good learning tools?"

Next came some Guiding Activies.

All are great discussion topics that made us think of many things. We decided that Mr. Losik should interview us and we would make movies about what we think.

Our interviews were pretty lame! All we said was that they were "cool" or that we could write more because our hands didn't hurt.

So.....Mr. Losik decided to give us a survey and we could all think about our answers and write them out instead of trying to get them on film off the tops of our heads.

Here are some of our answers to the questions:

You can see all 52 results here

After we looked at our results...we decided to try the video again. We memorized some of our responses that we gave.

Here is our video of iPad reflections:

Our final culminating activity and reflection piece:

To detail even deeper how the iPads are an important part of their school experience our 5th graders have created this new site: iLearn with iPads. Check it out.

Could Mr. Losik put "How to Videos" on this page to help the parents figure out how to do the same things that the kids are doing?
